In conjunction with its project on property division for common law couples and adult interdependent partners, ALRI partnered with the Population Research Lab at the University of Alberta to carry out a survey of Albertans’ attitudes and expectations towards cohabitation and property division.

Donna Fong, Rosanna Shih, and Dr. Gillian Stevens of the Population Research Lab helped design and conduct the survey. Under the supervision of Dr. Stevens, Aleena Amjad Hafeez analyzed the survey results and complied the findings her research paper Albertans’ Perceptions and Attitudes Regarding Common-law Property Division Laws: Exploring Evidence from the Alberta Survey 2016.
